steps.
I wish I could walk through my life with the abandon of Liam's first steps. That I would open my eyes and look around, and truly see that which surrounds me. That each day of living for a glorious God would be worthy enough. That the falls or gray days wouldn't destroy my spirit. That I would reach out to my Savior, hold tightly and not let go. That I would feel the freedom to be led further knowing He is present and near. That I wouldn't always need to be striving to achieve a goal. That hope comes in the journey.

Suffering
Why is this happening to me...
What else can I do to change this situation...
I am doing everything I can, why isn't it working...
Why do I deserve this...
Has God forgotten his promises to me...
God revealed something to me this weekend through a faithful man sharing his testimony at church. This man had complications at birth and flat-lined twice within the first 24 hours of his existence... leaving him with Cerebral Palsy. He shared that he went through a time of questioning why this had happened to him. Why were his siblings perfectly "healthy" when he had to suffer with this disability? He was led to John 9 where Jesus meets a blind man and his disciples asked him who sinned- this man or his parents that he would be born blind. Jesus responded 3"Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life." Essentially, may his suffering be used to bring God glory.
May this suffering bring God glory.
I do not want to suffer. I do not want to embrace suffering.
I run from suffering. I want it to end. I want to control it and fix it immediately. I want to follow the steps that it will take for me to wipe that part of my life away.
I feel led to believe through this testimony and biblical truth that we are not meant to run from suffering. But should believe that God is still present even through the suffering and working- perhaps harder than ever for people to see his love for them through it.
This is not something easy to embrace. This is a hard hard truth. I can honestly say though that I feel so much more freedom hearing it. I have spent periods of life running hard and fast from things that hurt. Running is exhausting. I am preparing my heart to sit in the presence of the Lord through hard times. Attempting to not fight back. Hard to do, yes. But I saw the fruit of the choice to sit instead of run in this young man and it was unbelievable. I was in awe of his faith and the glory that IS pouring out of his life for the Lord.
So for whatever question you may have for the Lord regarding the suffering that is in your life... health, heart, relationship, or all of the above I encourage you to sit in John 9:3. I am still processing it and the reality of the rest that is available is blowing me away.

Transitioning
Starting out today with Psalm 1. First two words of the Psalms: How Blessed. We are immediately enticed to living a godly life with the promise of blessedness. Being blessed: the happy condition of those who revere the Lord, do His will, and put their trust in Him. Just walking with the wicked, or standing with sinners, or sitting with scoffers can be detrimental to our walk with the Lord. And any of these may seem like completely innocent actions. But as the days wear on, as patterns are created, our character begins to change along with the the trust we put in the Lord. So who are we looking to for daily wisdom and encouragement to make it through each day? The Word, People magazine, ESPN, CNN?
Day 1. Psalm 1. Be blessed by walking, standing, and sitting in the presence of our Lord.

Beautiful Christian Sister
BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
by Maya Angelou
'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow!

Children of God
I often forget God's love is shown through my salvation. I am thankful today that He is my Father and I am His child. What a beautiful relationship He allows us to have with Him.

Jesus’ Triumphant Entry
4 This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said,
5 “Tell the people of Israel,[a]
‘Look, your King is coming to you.
He is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt.’”[b]
6 The two disciples did as Jesus commanded. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it.[c]
8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,
“Praise God[d] for the Son of David!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Praise God in highest heaven!”[e]
10 The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
11 And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
And this begins holy week. Not the only week to dwell on our Savior's last steps. But surely a week to focus fully on who Jesus was and not on ourselves. May we all be still this week.
